利用信息知情请求 来保护日渐萎缩的森林

保护森林资源是遏制气候变化的关键。因此,通过数据了解森林资源现状尤为重要,也极具挑战。根据世界资源研究所(World Resources Institute)最新的研究,在森林砍伐愈演愈烈的今天,占据世界过半森林面积的国家仍缺乏公开途径,以让其公众获取森林资源使用许可的相关信息。这份题为“伐木、采掘及农业数据透明度:关于14个‘森林之国’的调查”的研究发现,在受调查地区,建立信息自由条例能有效拓展获取森林数据的途径,并且已拥有信息自由法案(FOI)的国家更倾向于主动公开相关许可数据。

颁布《信息自由法》的国家增加到115个

在媒体行业噩耗不断的2016年,有一则令人眼前一亮的消息:根据FreedomInfo.org网站消息,8个国家颁布了《信息自由法》(FOI)或类似的条例,使全球具有《信息自由法》的国家增加到115个。新加入的国家为马拉维、瓦努阿图、坦桑尼亚、肯尼亚、菲律宾、斯里兰卡、多哥和越南。此外,阿根廷、意大利和突尼斯这3个国家显著地改善了本国的《信息自由法》。

RSF Names 39 “Predators” of Freedom of Information

For World Press Freedom Day, Reporters Without Borders has updated its list of groups and individuals who are "predators of freedom of information." The roster includes 39 government leaders, politicians, religious figures, militias, and criminal groups that censor, imprison, kidnap, torture, and kill journalists and other news providers worldwide.

FOIA Shaming is a tumblr site sponsored by the Student Press Law Center, the only legal assistance group devoted to helping student journalists in the US. The site posts examples of officials who refuse to hand over public records -- and then ridicules them.

Mexican FOI Laws Key Tool for Pulitzer Winner

The independent Mexican journalist Alejandra Xanic von Bertrab won the Pulitzer Prize for her research on the network of bribery and corruption that was a key part of Wal-Mart de México’s expansion strategy. Her 8-month investigation required 800 freedom of information requests from municipal, state, and federal offices in Mexico, and a total of 200 interviews.
