马耳他女记者汽车爆炸丧生 纽约时报:针对记者的人身安全威胁成新常态

10月16日下午,马耳他女记者Daphne Caruana Galizia遭遇汽车炸弹袭击身亡,引起国际新闻界的震动,以及对记者处境及新闻自由现状的讨论与关注。

Galizia是马耳他有名的调查记者,长期关注并报道揭露马国官员的腐败行为,包括指控马国时任总理约瑟夫·穆斯卡特与其妻子开设离岸公司。不久前,Galizia还入选了美国政治新闻网站Politico的“2017年影响欧洲的28人”

《纽约时报》17日社论列举从中东到东南亚的多国案例指出,对于全球记者而言,如关押、暗杀、判罪等针对记者的攻击与人身安全威胁正成为一种新常态(new normal)。“无国界记者”组织统计,2017年迄今为止,全世界共有42名职业记者、四名公民记者、八名协助报道的人被杀害。此外,还有367名新闻相关从业人员被监禁。

BBC Interactive Map: Countries and Bribes

One person in four has paid a bribe to a public body in the last year, according to a survey carried out in 95 countries by Transparency International. The poor record of some African nations on bribery stands out. The countries with the lowest rate are Denmark, Finland, Japan and Australia.
